    "Good Bye... Megaupload..."

Well, I think when the Mayan said that 2012 is the end of the world, they actually mean it's the end of INTERNET.

Though SOPA is not passed yet (and if it's passed I think many scanslation team will closed down lol) they already took Megaupload down.

Though, I heard that Megaupload is in the process of being revived, this still make me sad... I like to use Megaupload to upload stuffs, because they allow big files, and usually my uploads never fail when I upload there using their Mega Manager.

I'll tell you guys my trick how to upload to Mediafire using this slow connection....

    1. I upload to Megaupload using Mega Manager
    2. I open Megapid.com to create a direct link
    3. I use Embedupload.com to remote upload the file into Mediafire

Yeah, that's how you guys can enjoy your manga actually... So this really affect me, who has slow upload connection, and you guys because you're the one who read our stuffs.

You guys must not be surprised if one day Mediafire is taken down too, and it'll be awful for us to restore all the links...

Oh well, I have 2 important announcement here...
    1. I won't re-upload all the Megaupload mirrors that we uploaded
If someone else want to do it, then please be my guest... I just don't have the sufficient speed to re-upload them... Our main links are Mediafire after all.

    2. I'll use MINUS as mirror now
Yeah, from now on, I'll use Minus.com as they also allow ZIP and RAR. Please do help us by registering to Minus.com through this link here so we can get more disk space.

I asked Grumpy (the one who host our site) whether we're allowed to create a direct download link or not. If Grumpy won't allow us, then we'll use Mediafire and Minus.com.

Okay, that's all... BYE MEGAUPLOAD, I'LL MISS YOU SO MUCH.

No, they just don't have a DNS. The Domain is the IP you see, DNS is what we usually see (in this case it used to be Megaupload.com).

Megaupload getting closed isn't really because of the SOPA. They just finally had enough evidence to close it and arrest the responsible people...

Evidence of files being illegally uploaded and downloaded en masse. Most here in America  are not surprised the government is taking such action, after being humiliated by those of us on the interwebs and not getting to pass their precious SOPA/PIPA bills, they are going after download sites that, even thought it's all USER uploaded, are allowing file downloads of copyrighted content. A lot of people are speculating their doing this on purpose, provoking Anonymous (of which has already started a DDoS rampage), to make it seem like SOPA and PIPA really were needed. Of course, most everyone that was against SOPA and PIPA anyway know that Anonymous' actions are semi-justified. Also, originally the FBI claimed they took the site because it was a .com domain, which falls under U.S. Jurisdiction, along with the .net domain. However, later, it was reported that it was actually a legitimate takedown because some of their server were in the U.S., not because it was a .com domain.

As far as I know before that whole affair the SOPA bill was still supported by the senate, it was only after everything got that public (and quite some senators came to know what exactly that bill even is about) that it got put on hold.

As for Megaupload, I don't know all the charges against the site and its owners, but there's organized crime, criminal copyright infringement, racketeering, and money laundering.

...I should change our domain and go buy some servers from other places...

I wouldn't worry about that till the take down Manga Fox first. That's when scanlation groups will need to worry.

~,~ the problem with mangafox going down is that many other aggregators will disappear as well...because they're afraid that they will be next.  Not a bad proposition...but it also sends a message to the scanlators themselves...it tells them that the legal gray area is actually black and white...

...it's not really until a legal judgement is actually made, but I expect a lot of good scanlators to shrink or close their doors in fear anyway.
