It's difficult to decide, but I'd say for me last year's discovery was Isla/Aira from Plastic Memories:



An interesting character and a nicely sad story, especially the last few episodes of the anime.

Just a warning: most of the characters in this manga are almost disgustingly ugly. It's definitely not a funny nor erotic story, instead the plot is rather serious: it's about a girl in a difficult situation, helpful classmates, and stupid adults who are no help at all. All in all, this story contains quite some depth - if you can get past the unpleasant drawing style.

There's still the spin-off series Ore no Kouhai ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai (http://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?id=65912) with 44 chapters. Although it's called a spin-off, it's actually the continuation of the same story line, this time with Kuroneko as the main character. The first eleven chapters had been translated by 2012; but obviously since then nothing has happened any more. You can find the translated chapters here:

Now I feel a little sorry for you that your wish didn't come true; maybe that idea was just too obvious for the developers to use it. Anyway, I agree with you that Rin is probably the most interesting character in this VN (while Hanako is the cutest one, followed by Emi). And even though there are a few minor flaws, like lengthy dialogues now and then, all in all Katawa Shoujo is just a great game that's definitely worth playing, combining cute girls, steamy sex scenes and quite some amount of deeper meaning behind it. And on top of all it's even completely free.

B Gata H Kei is nice to watch, with lots of comedy and a little touch of indecency. The author managed to create an uncommon kind of protagonist: the naughty virgin. As Yamada is at the same time totally rotten (in her mind) and totally innocent (in reality), she tries to put her dirty fantasies into action, but fails miserably over and over again; and towards the end there's even some character development.

The title is a bit misleading - Yuru Yuri is a slice of life anime with the girls appearing in this show being innocent middle schoolers, while there's no erotic content whatsoever. But nevertheless the Yuru Yuri girls definitely are cute, and it's fun to watch their antics. My favourite character in this show is Akari - her personality is just adorable (just consider the scene with the fake snake).

This is the most amazing anime ever

While I wouldn't go that far, K-ON is undoubtedly one of my favourite shows. And it's one of the few examples where the anime even managed to surpass the manga it was based on. Of course the reason for that is the fact it's a story about a band - and it's rather difficult to give an impression of the music by using pictures only. In the manga the characters of the protagonists already are depicted nicely, but combined with the sound in the anime the outcome is really catching, because the way they made the music sound definitely fits with the story. It's just a pity that Ui stayed only a side character, appearing now and then in the background; I would have liked to see more scenes showing her friendly personality and the peculiar relationship between the two sisters.

To be honest, I was quite disappointed of the second season, especially the last few episodes. The first season still had managed to keep the balance with Kyousuke and Kirino having a mainly normal relationship as siblings: even though contending a lot, they deeply care for each other, while there are no incestuous feelings between them. But now the second season in my opinion completely ruined it: Kyousuke, instead of being the usual looser, suddenly turned into the protagonist of a harem anime with all the girls falling in love with him - and the relationship with Kirino turned into incestuous love. In comparison, the manga version is less flashy, but makes much more sense in my eyes (it's just a pity that only the first few chapters of Ore No Kouhai Ga Konna Ni Kawaii Wake Ga Nai have been translated by now).

When I found out about the new series continuing the storyline of To-Love-ru, I was especially pleased that Yami/Golden Darkness would be promoted from a side character to the new title character now, because her personality is in my opinion the most interesting one compared with the other girls in this manga. I had enjoyed reading the original series, since there was just the right balance between comedy and fan service. But then I was a little surprised about the course this new series took: while there was already plenty of nudity in the original one, it had been displayed in a rather playful manner; and now the sheer amount of breasts and buttocks appearing on the pages turned the new manga series almost into borderline hentai. The author is frequently using a trick, though: the more explicit sex scenes normally are only the depictions of dreams or thoughts of the characters and don't actually happen in the story. But all in all the atmosphere has definitely changed a little and turned more mature in comparison with the original To-Love-ru.

This is one more underrated series. While the cat girls are responsible for lots of funny antics, now and then Koi Neko has even really serious moments. I like especially the way how Nao's strong and determined love is depicted - her stubborn character and unfaltering devotion overcome any obstacles on the way to true love (even though she still needs to learn about common sense sometimes).

While I always had liked little girls, I became interested in manga and anime with loli characters only about eight years ago, when I read on the net about that unique, touching and melodramatic computer game Kana Little Sister. So I bought the game, played it, fell in love with the title character - and that's how a new passion started.

No Bra seems to be heavily underrated, even though it's a (mostly) funny story, has got nice main characters, and there's even a deeper meaning behind it. By the way, the same author also wrote Koibana Onsen, but that one is mainly about sex, while No Bra deals with the topic of finding and accepting your own identity while growing up.

Originally I had hoped that Keima would end up with Tenri; though on the other hand I have to admit that he will personally grow in a relationship with a girl who doesn't have as many similarities with him. Other than that the ending felt out of place; and there were several open questions left unresolved (like the mysterious relationship between Nikaidou-sensei/Dokurou and Akari/Rimyuel, or the background of Lune).
